Congratulations, Wiz!
On the recent $32B intended acquisition of Wiz by Google Cloud.
Today, we at Salesforce Ventures are thrilled to celebrate the monumental milestone of Wiz’s intended acquisition by Google for $32B (subject to regulatory approval). This deal stands as one of the largest in technology history, and we couldn’t be prouder to have been part of Wiz’s journey from their earliest days.
When we first invested in Wiz in 2021, we saw something truly special. Founded by cybersecurity visionaries Assaf Rappaport, Ami Luttwak, Roy Reznik, and Yinon Costica, Wiz was on a mission to redefine cloud security. Their agentless, API-based platform provided unmatched visibility, protection, and was truly multi-cloud from day one. At a time when cloud adoption was accelerating, Wiz’s innovative approach to security was exactly what enterprises needed.
Our confidence in Wiz was reinforced by their exceptional growth and unwavering commitment to solving their customers’ toughest challenges, and validated by various CISOs we spoke to within the Salesforce Ventures network — all of whom were impressed by the higher number of risks Wiz identified, the richness and granularity of Wiz’s data, and the team’s product velocity. Wiz established key innovations that have changed cybersecurity: agentless, graph-based tools and posture management were both key Wiz inventions. The trust Wiz’s founders built with CISOs while at Adallom and Microsoft created immediate traction for the business. Wiz would become the fastest cybersecurity company ever to reach $100M and $200M in annual recurring revenue (ARR). They’re projected to hit $1B ARR this fiscal year — a pace of growth unheard of in the cybersecurity industry.
Salesforce Ventures had the privilege of not only investing in Wiz, but also seeing Salesforce become a customer. After our investment, Salesforce security leaders provided glowing feedback on Wiz’s comprehensive cloud-native protection and its ability to identify and mitigate risks that other solutions missed. Slack deployed Wiz to safeguard its cloud infrastructure, and have continuously praised its effectiveness and ease of use.
As Wiz expanded internationally from its headquarters in Israel, Salesforce’s validation and our team’s tailored introductions helped Wiz break into several large U.S. enterprises.
Beyond the product, what truly set Wiz apart was its culture of trust and collaboration. Assaf and his team built a company that prioritized transparency, agility, and customer-centricity. Their ability to attract top talent from leading companies like Microsoft, Okta, and Datadog underscored their reputation as one of the most respected teams in the highly competitive cybersecurity space.
Of course, no investment is without risks. At the time of our investment, there were several large incumbents and well-funded cloud security startups who were ahead of Wiz in terms of customer and revenue traction. But the platform’s architecture and the team’s track record, product-market fit, dedication to customer research, and relentless drive gave us full confidence in their trajectory. As we now see Wiz become part of Google, it’s clear their ambition has paid off.
This acquisition marks a new chapter for Wiz, but it’s also a significant moment for the cybersecurity industry. The increasing complexity of cloud environments and rapid advancements in AI demand next-generation security solutions, and Wiz’s success is a testament to the importance of innovation in this space. Google’s acquisition further validates the immense value of modern cybersecurity platforms and the need for comprehensive, scalable solutions.
Congratulations to Assaf, Ami, Roy, Yinon, and the entire Wiz team on this remarkable achievement. We’re grateful to have been a part of your story and look forward to seeing how your technology continues to shape the future of cloud security. Here’s to more milestones ahead!
