While LLMs have transformed how enterprises work with text, a large majority of enterprise data still sits in spreadsheets — a format that’s stubbornly resistant to AI. Traditional methods for converting table data like XGBoost require extensive preprocessing, break with missing values, and demand months of specialized data science work for each use case, rarely achieving high accuracy.
Fundamental has built a Large Tabular Model (LTM), doing for structured data what Claude does for natural language. Their foundational model delivers accurate predictions with a single line of code, requiring no preprocessing, fine-tuning, or retraining. Early results are compelling: in fraud detection testing, their NEXUS models outperform traditional methods across use cases like churn prediction, drug discovery, and demand forecasting in industries including financial services, healthcare, and energy.
Since co-founding Fundamental in 2024, CEO Jeremy Fraenkel has assembled a world-class research team to tackle one of the largest unsolved problems in enterprise AI. The Fundamental team brings rare expertise across frontier AI research and enterprise go-to-market from organizations like DeepMind, Isomorphic Labs, and JP Morgan.
After building in stealth for 18 months, we’re excited that Fundamental is formally launching NEXUS and announcing a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services to put its model in the hands of enterprise customers. NEXUS can consume raw tabular data and autonomously understand its structure, relationships, and patterns — no feature engineering or custom model training required. The result? Materially higher predictive accuracy compared to conventional machine learning, delivered with dramatically less effort.
